Steven
Walker
Steve Walker is a Professor
and Chair of the Criminology Department at California
State University at Fresno where he teaches and administers the
Victim Services Certificate Program. Steve was instrumental in the
development of the Fresno program, the nation's first victimology
degree. He is currently developing the first doctorate in victimology
in conjunction with the University of California, Davis. Steve has
served as a faculty for Washburn
University. He served on the National Victim Assistance Standards Consortium.
In addition to his work as an educator and administrator, Steve has worked as
a community-based
and institution-based psychologist.
Some of his many written
contributions include author or co-author of the chapters "Concepts of Victim
Assistance," and "Impact of Stress: Physiological and Psychological
Aspects," for the JCVVS text, Victim Assistance: Exploring Individual
Practice, Organizational Policy, and Societal Responses. He wrote the chapter "Historical
Review of the Victim's Rights Discipline" for the National
Victim Assistance Academy Text, has contributed a chapter on victim rights
history to a text funded by the Office of Victims of Crime, and has a chapter
in the book, Multicultural Issues in
the Criminal Justice System..
Steve received a doctorate
in Clinical Psychology from California School
of Professional Psychology, a masters degree in Divinity from Central Baptist
Theological Seminary, and a
bachelors degree from Washburn
University.
